Filmografo
 

The animation studio, filmografo, was created in 1987. Their main goal is to make independent short films, but they have also produced films for children, and commissioned films and pilots for TV series. Filmografo has organized several professional training and children animation workshops. Over the past 12 years they have improved Portuguese Animation. Their films have won more than 50 awards and were showcased in all major animation festivals over the world.

Synopsis: In this film, I tried to create visual atmospheres to add to the sound atmospheres, using traditional Portuguese music. It is a trip through fears and phantasms of the Portuguese popular culture.

Synopsis: Nights are hidden days beyond our minds. But some remain like flying shadows reshaping the naïve images of our lives. Faces hurt with emptiness, characters petrified in silence, lands inked with blood… In addition, we become sleepy, carelessly dying, until morning happens.
   
The Outlaws

Synopsis: Inside a car, on a night trip along Portuguese roads someone in the 1950’s, there is a discussion about the identity of a group of men, captured and killed some years ago in the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War, decades before. Three perspectives are confronted in a speech that reveals the surface and the ideological sensibilities of the Portuguese fascism. As if the story could be invented or forgotten…

The Night

Synopsis: A tale about a child and her mother. Two lonely live with no communication. Loneliness gets the dimension of the night, mainly through the kaleidoscopic eye of the child. Dark is the night. Dark is her mother. Dark are the fears, the shadows, and the silence. Moreover, dark becomes the entire universe when we feel lonely and helpless.

Synopsis: Before being film or even art, animation is choreography. Mobile elements will move by metamorphose, mixing together with the background. These pieces will be animated as different objects, little and big animals, toys and robots. They move in an interstitial nursery rhyme illustrations and visions issued from scientific instruments and devices.
