Tehran, the capital of Iran, is located on an altitude
of 1110 meters from sea level, is 752 square kilometers
vast and has a population of more than 7 million. It is
not only the political and administrative center of the
country; economic and cultural life of the country is
also concentrated in it. Concentration of large part of
population and resources in Tehran, have made it the
hosting place of most significant cultural and social
events of the country. Likewise, concentration of all
decision making and planning institutions, as well as
large number of most significant universities and
educational centers, museums, exhibition halls,
publishing houses, cinematic organizations, film
theaters, houses of culture, and other cultural
resources in Tehran, have granted it an importance well
above national level and have made it a cultural center
of pivotal importance in South-Western Asia. |
