Following the foundation of television medium in Iran and the expansion of Radio & TV Organization activities, it was needed to format an institute to provide and teach the human-potency for this organization. So in 1969 an institute named the College of Television & Cinema established whose graduates began to work in Radio & TV organization and in the field of Cinema. At first the educational period of the institute was confined to a short one-year course. Later it promoted to two undergraduate courses in the majors of production and technical. At the sometime "Mass Communication "and" Electronic Engineering" courses designed and performed at the collage.
After Iran Revolution, it became a necessity that the Institute limits its courses to train the human-potency for IRIB. So the name of the Institute changed; first to "Technical Education Center" and then to "IRIB Faculty". In 1982 the under graduate course in "Production" advanced to a graduate course in the same major, in 1995 a BA course in "Communication Engineering", in 1996 an MA Course in "Production", and in 1997 a BA in "Communication" added to the Faculty programs. In 1998 Qom branch of IRIB Faculty began its work by establishing an MA course in "Producing". The other educational majors which have been added to the Faculty courses include "Research in Mass Communication" (MA, since 1999), "Music, international instruments" (BA, since 2002) "Media Management" (MA, since 2002), and "Commercial Publicity" (MA, since, 2002). Now, the IRIB Faculty presents various educational majors in undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels, and so it provides a good number of human-potency needed by IRIB.
One of the branches of the "TV Production" BA course in this faculty, is "Animation". The products of the faculty's students and graduates have had some achievement in national and international festivals, whose most successful one of them in recent years is "Zero Degree" by Omid Khosh-Nazar.
In the 5th edition of Tehran international Festival, a Selection of the students of I.R.I.B. Faculty will be shown.
